Nick Andrews, Project Principal and CEO, ARF


Mr. Andrews is Co-Founder and CEO of Arkansas Renewable Fuels LLC, and is CEO of USA BioEnergy, LLC.  He over sees the project development, provides management, project funding, and oversight of the development.  Nick has general and active management of the operation of the company.  He will oversee and deliver the company’s performance.

He is a proven leader with business management skills that include financial analysis, market analysis, investment analysis, and user decision analysis.  He is a creative visionary with an inherent ability to bring new perspectives into the conversation as well as to sell, implement, and initiate new ideas, with a proficiency in business negotiations.

Having an extensive background as an entrepreneurial real estate executive with 22+ years of experience as well as over 27 years of senior level experience managing corporate growth, customization, and implementation related to financing, asset management, development, and divestiture strategies.

Nick works with the state governments and local business communities, to deliver the required elements including tax incentives. He also oversees the hiring process of key personnel.

Mr. Andrews is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), which only 6% of commercial real estate practitioners achieve worldwide. He is a developer who has owned his own real estate brokerage in Scottsdale, Arizona since 1999.

David Prom, Project Principal, ARF


Co-Founder of Arkansas Renewable Fuels, LLC. David heads up the overall financial operations as well as investor relations.  He has nearly 30 years of executive leadership experience, with more than 20 years in engineering processes and creative initiatives in the development of new high impact technology and smooth implementation.  David’s has a highly skilled approach to developing the future of bioenergy in America and around the world. 

As a fellow visionary, David helped co-found one of the first in the country interstate crowdfunding portals and by doing so David has been able to associated himself with organizations in both the public and private sectors to raise capital for funding projects at the forefront of the new energy revolution.  

David has helped provide strategic direction for the company in the Arizona bioenergy industry.  With David’s educational background in Law, Science & Technology from Arizona State University, marketing and real estate, along with corporate experience in marketing, sales and public relations, David brings together the tools and skills necessary to help guide the company.

David’s experience with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the late 1980s gave him familiarity with large real estate developments in United States and bordering sub markets.  Chief safety engineer with TRW safety systems in the early 90’s compounded his ability to manage and work with large numbers of employees, moving to Chevrolet motor company in the mid 90’s helped define David’s ability to work under pressure and work with tight regulatory guidelines.

David is the Designated Broker and Co-Owner of N. B. Andrews & Associates as well as the Co-Founder of USA BioEnergy LLC.




Dr. Schubert is the Chief Operating Officer for USA BioEnergy where he is responsible for day to day management of the company. During the project he will also oversee the construction, commissioning, and startup of the ARF biorefinery.  

He has over 35 years of experience in development and commercialization of innovative technologies in the petrochemical and natural gas and renewables industries. Prior to joining USA BioEnergy he served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director for Velocys. In this capacity he was responsible for the development and deployment of Velocys’ Fischer-Tropsch technology for converting biomass, waste, landfill gas, and natural gas to renewable diesel, jet fuel, and wax products. Additionally, he was responsible for all engineering, reactor and catalyst manufacturing, HSE, and R&D. This resulted in the successful commercial scale demonstration of the technology in partnership with Waste Management and NRG in Envia Energy LLC’s landfill gas to renewable diesel and wax plant on Waste Management’s Oklahoma City, OK landfill. 

He previously served as Global Sales Manager for Asset Integrity Management and Director of Operations for SGS, the largest testing, inspection, and verification company in the world. Before that Dr. Schubert served as VP of R&D with Syntroleum and increasing levels of technology development and management with Catalytica, Phillips Petroleum, and Engelhard Corporation where he was responsible for commercialization of multiple products in the process and regulatory compliance industries. Dr. Schubert is an inventor on 16 U.S .patents and an author of over 40 publications. Dr. Schubert received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with Highest Honors from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He received his Ph.D in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. 

Ellen Wesley, Chief Financial Officer


  Ellen Wesley’s prior company was CarbonConnect, a renewable energy consultancy specializing in capital raises for utility scale energy production facilities. Previously she was CFO and board member of Blue Northern Energy, a 30mmgpy biodiesel facility in central Illinois. After a 19 year career at Citibank NA, she was a managing director at NexGen Power, LLC, a private equity firm making principal investments in ethanol and biodiesel facilities. There she analyzed over 150 business models resulting in over $200mm in principal equity investments, representing project totals of over $1B.

 In her role at CarbonConnect, she consulted with companies to raise capital for project financings in wind, solar, geothermal and waste to energy. As a member of the development team for her clients, she oversaw business strategic planning, modeling, risk management, financial systems and orchestrated the sale of project assets to buyers.

Ms. Wesley has a BS in Finance from Arizona State University.

Paul Öesterreich, Project Principal ARF

Mr. Oesterreich’s career has spanned 36 years, all of it in the energy industry with particular emphasis on refined and renewable fuels trading and marketing.  Paul gained extensive refining experience during his 17 years with BP, also during which he began trading refined fuels and LPG’s.  Since that time he’s held various trading, marketing and risk management positions in refined and renewable fuels including with Western Petroleum Company, Mercuria Energy Trading, and World Fuel Services. His biodiesel and RIN trading experience, along with experience in the Renewable Diesel and Jet sector in marketing and business development brings a unique skill set to the TEAM at Arkansas Renewable Fuels and its associated projects.

Larry Hutton, Project Principal ARF

Versatile, team oriented operations, and strategic planning with significant experience in leading staff management. Background includes experience with Fortune 500 companies, medium sized companies, and new venture start ups in the food, medicine and bioenergy industries. Effective, results oriented leader with the ability to see the big picture, solve problems and motivate to accomplish desired goals.
